From the Senior Pastor: “Tireless Servants of Christ” In our faithful service for others, we are serving the Lord. Jesus said, “...inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40). When we help others we become His channels through which He works. We are His hands, feet, and mouth. We have been made faithful and dependable workers because “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). God has equipped us to do His will. Paul wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4;13). God has made us for the purpose of doing good and serving others. In writing to the church in Galatia Paul wrote, “let us not grow weary while doing good” (Galatians 6:9). Whether we are working in the church, volunteering in our communities, or helping others, when we toil in the strength of the Lord, we are not to grow weary. “[God] gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary,” (Isaiah 40:29, 31) God gives us both the strength to do good and joy in our service. Solomon tell us, “...he who waters will also be watered himself” (Proverbs 11:25). Peyton Conway March writes, “There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three thing we crave most in life--happiness, freedom, and peace of mind--are always attained by giving them to someone else.” In his book Give to Live Dr. Douglas M. Lawson writes, “But there is one kind of experience that delivers emotional and psychic satisfaction time and time, day after day: helping other people. Volunteer efforts, charitable acts, generosity of spirit, and gestures of compassion all enrich and sustain our lives.” God has equipped us to do what He commands: to serve others in His name. We do not grow weary because, through our serving, we are blessed and empowered to do more. |
